"If you want to make a change this year to healthier eating habits I would recommend watching the daily Facebook Lives at Whole Food Muscle Group.

They post every weekday around 9:15 a.m. and lasts only 10 minutes give or take. They have been so helpful to me! I get tidbits of super useful info that I can then add into my eating routine...like growing broccoli sprouts, health benefits of homemade sauerkraut, why blueberries are amazing, potatoes are a super food, eating 4 brazil nuts monthly, amla powder for cholesterol, and so much more. (I am so impressed by their knowledge that I joined their Club and have access to more content.) They do all the research and reading that I want to do but don't have time to do. They also do a cooking show on Facebook weekly. It's a closed group but just ask for access...tell them Brenda sent you."

My apologies for coming back so late to this, but when I first started to see you talk about it, it got me thinking.

Quite a few members of my family passed away in their 50’s and while I do not know for absolute certain, I am pretty sure much had to do with poor nutrition. I know it was that was with my father. And as I just turned 40 last month, I wanted to continue to eat healthier and ensure I was doing it as best as possible.

I recently told my mother and she cannot wrap her mind around me going plant-based. Even as she is someone who recently lost weight after struggling with it for most of her adult life. I just wish people at least gave it a try or looked into it. The evidence is there, so it isn’t like anyone is guessing. One will only feel better after doing so.

"I have known Dr. Robyn for a couple of years now. We met online and I have enjoyed staying connected with her. When I saw she was doing a Facebook live one day in October I decided to stop what I was doing and watch it. She and her husband Russ were talking about a BBC documentary they had watched called Eat, Fast Live Longer. They were using FB lives to share their  journey into eating a whole food plant based diet and fasting 2 days a week. I was very intrigued.

I changed my whole day around and watched the documentary and was blown away. I even tried my first fast the next day. I wanted to see if I could actually do it. Then I shared the documentary with my husband and he was hooked as well.

We started fasting two days a week from that point forward.

And my next goal was to get my 2 boys and hubby eating more whole food plant based. Keep in mind I grew up in Nebraska and ate red meat literally 4 times a week and chicken the rest. I had rarely if ever had a vegetarian only meal and sometimes we didn’t even have vegetables with our meal. Yup, I was that bad.

But since I have been following Robyn and Russ on their journey we have implemented so many yummy meatless meals into our weekly meals. My boys are loving the dishes we are creating with quinoa, beans, rice, peppers, spinach, corn etc. It’s been so much fun to see us change our diet around and really how easy and fun it’s been to make this change.

Nobody can use the excuse I have kids, I can’t expect them to eat like this. I have two picky boys and we are having no issues. We have even found a way to eliminate milk from cereal by using Almond milk. It’s been a fascinating journey and I am so glad to be on it with Robyn and Russ. Without them we would not be where we are today. If anyone is interested in learning more about moving to a whole food plant based diet, I can honest say work with Robyn and Russ, you won’t be sorry.
